Sea Travel to Penghu

Summer is the peak tourism season in Penghu. Airline tickets are usually difficult to get during this time of the year, especially on the weekends. If you plan to come to Penghu on a summer weekend, sea traval is a very good choice. The sea is calm and the scene is beautiful.

There are several companies serving ferries from three major cities in Taiwan(Taichung, Chiayi and Kaushung) to Penghu.

The fastest way is the ferry (All Star) from Budai port of Chiayi to Penghu (28 nautical miles). The traveling time is only 90 minutes and one-way ferry ticket is only 1000 NT. If you plan to take this ferry, Sunrise B&B can purchase round-trip ticket for you at a discount price of 1600 NT. You must pay the full amount in advance and there is a penalty of 600NT if you cancel the trip after the ticket is bought. to make reservation, you need provide your full name, passport number and your date of birth.

The 2nd fastest way to Penghu is the ferry from Taichung to Penghu serviced by Today's Star. The ferry time is 3 hours and one-way ticket price starts from 1400 NT.

The last, but not the least, is the ferry from Kaushung to Penghu. It is the longest route of all three and it takes 4.5 hours. However, it runs all year round and you can come with your own vehicle, whether it is bicycle, motorcycle or car. The one-way fare is 860 NTD. The fery usually run everyday in the summer and two or three times in the winter. Passengers should check the ferry schedule in advance. Air Travel to Penghu

There are more than 50 flights everyday from three domestic airline companies (Uni Air, Transasia Airways and Madarin Airline) servicing flights from five major cities (Taipei, Taichung, Chiaya, Tainan and Kaushung) to Penghu. Air travel is the most effecient way to get to Penghu. If you have short vacation and time is precious to you, you should use air travel to come to Penghu.
